What is the role

The Manager of Operations and Compliance is responsible for overseeing all operational aspects of registered group savings, retirement and pension plans. This includes managing and accounting for all sponsor and member related capital activities, ensuring regulatory and plan compliance, providing plan sponsor support and oversight of the member support team. This position also requires the candidate to work closely with the trustees, custodians and investment managers to ensure timely processing of transactions and accurate accounting of plans.

The position requires extensive knowledge of registered group plan administration, regulatory compliance and investment transaction processes. In addition to strong communication skills, excellent customer operational management skills and a commitment to exemplary customer service are required to support sponsors and members.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Manage and lead the Operations, Compliance and Client Service teams
  • Maintain full accountability of the member experience including trade processing and settlement of all investment related activities, account statements, communications and customer support
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable securities regulations, pension regulation, the Income Tax Act and plan documents
  • Provide trade and securities information for client reporting
  • Develop and maintain close relationships with trustees, custodians, investment managers, distribution partners and clients
  • Work with custodians to reconcile trades, share, cash and cash flow issues
  • Develop processes and identify opportunities to eliminate or streamline operational processes and workflows through actionable projects and roadmaps
  • Manage client expectations to ensure maximum satisfaction with products and services
  • Track open issues and handle crisis situations leveraging your diverse experience and mature perspective
  • Guide and assist Client Service team to resolve sponsor and member recordkeeping and plan administration concerns in a timely and professional manner
  • Work with Product Development team to ensure Link’s recordkeeping system meets client and regulatory requirements
  • Regularly interact with other teams, executives and the product organization for thought-leadership

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree of Commerce with a focus in Finance or an Accounting certification and 5+ years of progressive experience with workplace registered savings and retirement plans
  • Direct experience with daily operational aspects of registered group savings and retirement plans
  • Demonstrated knowledge of compliance and applicable regulatory and CRA requirements of registered group savings and retirement plans
  • Conviction of innovation, continual improvement and focus on operational efficiencies through digitization
  • Experience managing and growing a team by developing retention strategies and ensuring job satisfaction
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple requests with varying levels of importance and criticality
  • Experience with share purchase or stock option plans is an asset
  • Project management experience is an asset
